FAQs – frequently asked
questions
1) Does the Curtain
Butler need to be assembled?
No, the Curtain Butler is
ready to use. Three parts belong to it:
2) Does the Curtain Butler need special care?
No, the Curtain Butler does not need maintenance or means
of care.
3) Why do the curtain wheel rings have to be arranged
as close to the release button as possible?
If the first wheel ring is in a certain distance
to the release button, it might happen, that the
pulling rod
is loosing
the track when in use. Furthermore this position improves
the gliding across.
4) Why must the pulling rod be hung in behind the first
wheel ring before it is pluged in?
If the Curtain Butler is
already adjusted, it is quite difficult to arrange the pulling
rod (hook of the pulling
rod) adequately.
5) Why is it wrong to hang the hook into the wheel
ring?
The hook hung „into“ the .wheel ring would stick
between the upper side of the tread and the underside
of the release button.
6) Which size/ thickness should the tread of the curtains
have?
The curtain boards usual in trade are between 1 and
2mm thick. These can of course be provided by the curtain
butler.
7) Are there also stronger curtain boards/ treads?
Yes, but these can only be found in hotels, hospitals,
public buildings, etc. They are sometimes arranged
by professionals like decorators/
designers. The Curtain
Butler is not meant for professional
use.
8) How can I put the Curtain
Butler into the curtain
board?
The horizontal parts of the two metal sheets should
be pushed inbetween the groove of the curtain board
until
there is
a distinct obstruction.The
vertical parts of the metal sheets are positioned parallel
on the tread. Underneath the curtain board there are
four plastic balls.
By their support it becomes easy to plug in and additionally
they have a spring function. Plugging in from the side
or by the notch
works according to the same principal. You can find
detailed information in the instruction.
9) Can I be sure that the Curtain
Butler will stick
to the curtain board without further support after
I have
plugged
it in?
Yes, but curtains should not exceed the permissible
weight of 4kg. The Curtain
Butler could handle even
more weight,
but the curtain
board may be damaged under these circumstances.
10) What is to be minded before applying the Curtain
Butler for the first time?
Basically one has to read and to draw attention to
the ownern´s
manual.
And here some more tips:
- Don´t stand on the curtains when
you take the wheel rings across!
- Take care that the wheel rings do not get caught in
the aluminium board!
- Take care that the curtain fabric does not get in
a muddle at the lower end of the aluminium board
or at
the stopper!
- Some curtain boards may be plastered
in, therefore pieces of plaster have to be removed!
- If the wheel
rings are hindered from gliding through, don´t
try with force! (There is the danger of damaging
the curtain string and the metal sheets). It
is better to
remove the Curtain
Butler and
to check e.g. the distance of the individual
wheel rings, the measures of the curtain board,
whether
the hooks are clinged
together
or the fabric is muddled ...!
- If the curtain
board (tread) is damaged, plug in theCurtain
Butler cautiously and hold it if necessary
in the right
angle to the curtain
board!
11) Why is it better to pull the curtain through by
hand after the first wheel ring has glided in?
Certain kinds of curtain string, especially gathered
string, can lead to varying distances of the wheel
rings, when
pulled through
by the pulling rod. There is no way of gliding through.
If you use less varying curtain strings, e.g.. folded
string, there should
be no problems in pulling through with the pulling
rod!
12) Can I use the Curtain
Butler when my curtain
board is supplemented by an ornamental board?
Ornamental boardsadjusted to the side do not have
a negative effect.
13) Is there a difference in working with one or
multitracked curtain boards?
No, each individual groove can be dealt with
by the Curtain
Butler.
14) What do I have to draw attention to if my
curtain boards are furnished with courner connections?
Decisive for the use of the Curtain
Butler is the position of the notch for threading
in. This
should
be found
in a straight part
of the curtain board. Not to be recommended
are notches, that are arranged immediately
after
a curve in the
direction to he wall.
Even if the necessary characteristics for the
notch are given, this may cause problems in
gliding through.
15) Do I have to add wheel rings in the curtain
string if the distance of the rings is more
than 75mm?
This measure is related to the way the curtain
is made and is only a recommendation. Try to
hang up
the curtains
with
the Curtain Butler first.
If there are problems in gliding across, remove
the Curtain Butler again
and add wheel rings
to the string
in an appropriate
amount.
